Saturday Night Live has added a new featured cast member in time for its season premiere later this month. Stand-up comic Pete Davidson, a New York comedian, will join the cast for the NBC show’s 40th season.

Davidson was a cast member on the Nick Cannon improv competition show Wild ‘N Out when it returned to television after a six-year hiatus in 2013. Davidson has been featured on MTV’s Guy Code and on Adam DeVine’s House Party, a new Comedy Central sitcom that includes stand-up sets filmed in Workaholic star’s backyard. Davidson, who is only 2o years old (so young!) also had a bit part on the hilarious FOX comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, starring SNL vet Andy Samberg, during the show’s first season.

The NYC resident has stand-up videos on YouTube starting from the young age of only 17. In April, Davidson showed off his self-deprecating humor when he did a stand-up set on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “I just moved out of my mom’s house. And I just turned 20. And it’s over. I’m not going to make it. Look at me. I’m not going to make it. I’m 6’3”. I’m 145 pounds…I don’t even know what race I am. I’m all miscellaneous in the face.” Davidson joked. “I just dropped out of college. That’s my big move this year.”

Apparently, he’s doing okay without academia and he is definitely “making it” just fine! SNL is the biggest casting a new comedian can get. Most comic legends earn their stripes on the Roc Center stage.

The new season of Saturday Night Live premieres Sept. 27 on NBC.
